Metech Recycling Inc. is currently seeking to fill the position of Engineer I located in Gilroy, CA. The position is primarily responsible for handling all aspects of the mechanical engineering function. This includes but not limited to design, construction, and installation of equipment modifications, providing technical support to the operating facility, and recommending areas of improvement.
Essential job duties include:
- Work closely with Environmental and Safety teams to ensure compliance is implemented into new projects.
- Responsible for designing, installing and commissioning product units, monitoring modifications and upgrades, and troubleshooting existing processes.
- Ensure implemented processes work at the optimum level, to the right rate and quality of output, in order to meet supply needs.
- Maintenance of equipment covering all phases of heavy industrial plant engineering, typical of the metals industry.
- Optimize equipment utilization and efficiency by applying the latest development in machine procedures, diagnostic equipment, and more reliable electrical components.
- Develop practical solutions to repetitive equipment failure problems that contribute to the effectiveness of the maintenance effort.
- Contribute engineering expertise to project work and selection of replacement or new equipment to help ensure consistency and standardization of components and ease of maintenance.
- Ensure all equipment recommended, repaired or modified meets all company and governmental safety and health rules and regulations to help ensure safety and wellbeing of employees.
- Assist in the development of engineering or maintenance procedures and repair work to ensure they are safe, effective and efficient. Expand, continually, knowledge of engineering and maintenance principals and practice.
- Responsible for conducting process development experiments when necessary prior to implementation.
- Responsible for collecting and interpreting data from the other technical and operating staff involved in the implementation and operations of new equipment and processes.
- Develops and maintains control charts and monitoring systems to ensure that variances in process are handled and do not affect product quality or recovery.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of a Quality System by serving as a resource to Operating Teams.
Requirements:
Bachelor degree in Mechanical engineering or a related field. At least 2 years of experience in mechanical engineering or related fields. Experienced working in an industrial setting and able to read engineer drawings. Must have knowledge of manufacturing processes, feasibility testing, engineering design, operations and perform equipment, data analysis techniques such as SPC. Must have experience in imaging analysis methodologies and applications. Must have solid computer skills with software application proficiency, including Microsoft office, CAD, 3DMAX and MAYA. Must be motivated, self-starter with a desire to improve production reliability, and have ability to clearly communicate effectively with all levels of the company. Job Title: Customer Service Representative
Pay: $19.00 per hour
Reports To: Assistant Director of Operations
Location: Gilroy, CA
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Receives customers’ requests by telephone or email, analyzes requests, provides information requested or ascertains who can best provide the information, and routes the request to the proper person.
- Schedules shipping to Metech for customers.
- Analyzes transactions, corrects records, and adjusts errors.
- Maintains appropriate files and records, both electronic and paper in accordance with Metech policies and procedures as a resource for the sales force and provide references helpful to the customer. Prepares customer-specific reports.
- Opens customer accounts by recording account information.
- Maintains the material pickup schedule and coordinates with the driver and the customer to assure satisfactory conduct of the operations and to assist the customer.
- Resolves customer questions related to orders, takes orders as needed, recommends or selects the best method to solve problems, expediting the correction or adjustment, and follows up to ensure the satisfactory resolution.
- Maintains liaison with other departments for order completion.
- Prepares customer invoice, acknowledgement of receipts for materials and certificates of destruction and ensures that they are routed or mailed.
- Responds to customers’ requests via telephone or mail, using personal computer when necessary.
- Applies knowledge of Metech policies and procedures for pickup and processing materials, the commitments made by Metech for responsible recycling, unacceptable items and the pricing of services.
- Assists in completing or routing customer requests for environmental audits or other regulatory information to satisfy contract or proposal requirements. Assists with proposal routing and related correspondence. Provides certificate of insurance.
- Prepares receiving reports by collecting and analyzing customer information.
- Contributes to a team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
- Assists with event planning and logistics including occasional onsite participation in marketing events, collection events and conventions or meetings.
ADDITIONAL ADMIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides switchboard relief as needed.
- May assist with coordination, arrangements, and actual conduct of collection events.
- Performs other allied duties as assigned by supervisor.

EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND:
One (1) year of experience in customer service or sales, preferably for a service industry is desired. Knowledge of recycling industry standards and practices strongly desired. Knowledge of graphic arts, website maintenance, and general advertising principals and techniques is desired. Experience with operations in an ISO 9001 and/or 14001 environment is preferable.
EDUCATION:
High school education or equivalent. Some post-diploma training in business principals or an Associate degree in a related field is desired.
Language Skills: Ability to compose, read, and comprehend instructions, memorandums, business correspondence, and reports in English. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, vendors, and employees within the organization. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
